Once your account is created, a wizard asks you a few questions, one per screen, and from those we build your page: copy, photos, colours, widgets and legal texts. A business goes through four steps (five screens if we find your Google Business Profile); a personal page, two. Anything we don't know you can change later.
At the top of each screen you'll see how much is left (“Step 2 of 4”). Your answers are saved in your browser as you go: if you close the tab halfway through, you carry on where you left off when you come back.
What the site is for#
The first question is “What's this site for?”, with two cards:
- A business — for companies and the self-employed: a business, a shop, a professional or a startup that wants to be found and contacted. If you're self-employed (autónomo), this is the one.
- A personal page — just for you, with no economic activity: your CV, your portfolio or your links on a single page. No services or prices.
Choose one and press “Continue”. We ask this first because it changes everything else: a personal page doesn't look for a Google Business Profile or need a legal notice, and a business does.
Personal page: only choose it if your page doesn't offer services or products. If you show prices or services, the law counts it as an economic activity and you need the legal texts (which we generate for free). That's why a notice appears when you choose it and the button changes to “Got it, continue”.
About your business#
- Fill in “What's your business called?”, as your customers know it.
- Underneath, “Which city is it in?” (or town), with two fields: the country, which is already set to Spain, and the city. As you type we suggest cities in that country; pick yours from the list. If what you typed isn't on it, you'll see “We can't find that city in Spain…”: check the spelling. If you're outside Spain, change the country first. The country also decides your legal texts: with the United States, your site gets a US privacy policy, with no legal notice, and we don't ask you for a tax ID to publish (see Legal texts and cookies).
- Press “Continue”. With the name and the city we check whether your business already shows up on Google; while it searches, the button says “Searching Google…”.
If we find it, the next screen shows you up to five profiles: “Is “…” one of these?”. You choose yours and check what we take from it, or press “No, none of these is mine”. It's all in Your Google Business Profile. If Google returns nothing, that screen doesn't appear and you go straight on to the next one.
What do you do?#
This is the most important question in the wizard: what you write here is what we write all your copy from, and how we choose your site's colours, typeface and photos. That's why it's required: at least one sentence. If it's too short you'll see “A little more: at least one sentence about what you do.”.
- If you chose your Google Business Profile, it's the only question on the screen: “What do you do?”. Say what you offer, who for, what sets you apart and the tone you'd like. The name, address and type of business already come from the profile, so we don't ask for them again.
- If you don't have a profile, the same screen also has the “Address” — as you type we suggest streets from Google in your city — and “What do you do?”, a list of sectors. Underneath, “Tell us what you do and how you want your site”.
Under the box we tell you whether it's enough: with very little you can't continue; with a sentence or two, “That's enough to start, but your site will come out more generic…”; and once you also say how you picture it — colours, mood, what visitors should see first — “Great: with this we can make it fit you.”.
Press “Continue”. The name isn't repeated here: if you want to change it, “Back” takes you to the previous screen.
Your site's language#
The last screen: “What language do you want your site in?”. We write all your site's copy in it.
Each language is a card with its flag and a sentence in that language. Which ones appear depends on the country you entered:
| Country | Languages, in this order |
|---|---|
| Spain | Español, Català, English |
| Andorra | Català, Español, English |
| Spanish-speaking countries | Español, English |
| Everywhere else | English, Español |
The first one is already chosen. Press “Create my site”. It's your main language; later you can change it or add others in Settings › Languages, depending on your plan.
If it's a personal page#
A personal page is created on a single screen:
- “What do you want to call your page?” — your name, for example.
- As soon as you type it, “What will you use your page for?” appears: say what you want it for and who you are, what you do and what you'd like visitors to find. It's required (at least one sentence), because it's all we have to write it from.
- Press “Create page”.
We don't ask for an address or look for a Google Business Profile. Your page comes out in the language you use the dashboard in (Spanish or English); you change it in Settings › Languages. It starts with the Gallery, CV and Contact pages, and on the hero with the Instagram, YouTube and big link widgets for you to fill in.
Your links#
Under what you do (on a personal page, under “What will you use your page for?”) there's “Paste your links”: your Instagram, your Facebook, your booking page (Booksy, Treatwell…), your old website, your LinkedIn or anything else. Press the “+” to the right of the last field (“Add another link”) to add more, up to six. Inside each one you'll see what we recognised (“Instagram”, “LinkedIn”, “Your website”); if what you paste isn't a link, we tell you underneath.
- Your social media goes in your site's footer, with its icon.
- For all of them we read what Google shows — your Instagram bio, your LinkedIn headline — and use it to write your copy. If Google shows nothing for a profile, that's fine: we still use the link on your site where we can.
- Your booking page goes on the main button: your site starts with a button that takes people to it, instead of “Contact us” (explained below).
- It's optional, but the more you give us, the more your site will feel like yours.
If you chose a paid plan on wiweb.io#
If you signed up from the Grow card on the pricing page, you pay for the plan here, before we build your site, not when you get into the dashboard. When you press “Create my site” (or “Create page”), “Activate Grow and we'll build your site” appears, with the price and card payment on the same screen. If you signed up from the United States, the price is in dollars, and that's what you're charged (see Create your account). As soon as the payment is confirmed, we start building it.
Rather not pay yet? Press “I'd rather start for free”: your site is built just the same, on the Free plan, and you can activate the plan whenever you like from Billing. If you signed up from any other button on wiweb.io, this screen doesn't appear.
While it's being built#
You'll see “We're building your site”. It usually takes about a minute. You can close the page: we keep building it and email you when it's done, with the subject “(your business name): your site is ready”.
Choose your site#
When it's finished we show you two versions of your site: Hero, with your photo full-screen and the widgets on top, and Grid, with your photo and widgets as tiles, like a board. Both carry your text and your photo, each with its own template. "See it full size" opens it in a new tab. Press "Choose this one" on the one you like best and we take you to the editor, My page, with it in front of you.
If you close the page without choosing, we show you the choice again next time you sign in. Afterwards, Hero or Grid can be switched any time in Style, and any other template from wiweb.io/templates can be asked for in the chat. If we ever can't make you both, you go straight to the editor with your site.
If you came from “Start with this one” on a template at wiweb.io/templates, the wizard reminds you at the top of each screen (“Your site will start with the “…” template: its look, with your details.”), your site starts with it and this choice doesn't appear: you go straight to the editor. And if you typed your business name there to see it on the templates, it's already filled in under “What's your business called?” (if you'd already started the wizard before, what you typed then stays).
Your site isn't live yet. What you've just created is a draft only you can see. For everyone to see it, press “Publish”: it's free, and it's explained in Publish your page.
Who's behind it: we ask when you publish#
The wizard no longer asks for your NIF (Spanish tax ID) or your owner details. The law requires a business's legal texts to say who owns it, but that's needed to publish, not to see your site. So we ask for it the first time you press “Publish”, in the “Details for your legal pages” window: the tax ID, the registered business name or your full name, the registered address (already filled in with your address) and an email. It's explained in Publish your page.
Personal pages don't need a tax ID: just a contact email. Nor does a business in the United States: there's no legal notice there, and the email is enough.
Your social media and bookings, in the editor#
The wizard doesn't search for your online presence: it only uses the links you paste in “Paste your links”. Everything else is added later:
- Instagram: your hero starts with the Instagram widget. Until you fill it in it's a grey space in the editor and doesn't show on your live site. See Widgets.
- Your social media in the footer: the ones you pasted are already there; to add or change them, Settings › Social media.
- Your booking page (Booksy, Treatwell…): if you pasted it, your main button already goes to it; if not, put it on the button, as explained just below.
The main button#
This isn't asked either: your site starts with a “Contact us” button (in your site's language — «Contáctanos» in Spanish; “Contact me” on a personal page) that takes people to your Contact page, with its form. Messages reach you in Messages.
If you pasted your booking page in “Paste your links”, the button goes to it instead, with wording for booking an appointment (on a Spanish site, something like «Pide cita») rather than “Contact us”.
To make the button go to your bookings, open WhatsApp, call you or go to another link, change it in the editor: in the preview, open the cover — “Edit the cover” or, on Grid, its tile's pencil — and in the “Hero” window, at the top, you'll find the bar and its button.
